IT IS THE CLUBS POLICY TO TAKE SERIOUSLY ANY MATTERS OF INDISCIPLINE BY ITS MEMBERS EITHER ON OR OFF THE FIELD. TO THIS END THE CLUB WILL ADHERE TO THE GENERAL GUIDELINES OF THE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION, BUT WILL ALSO ENFORCE THE FOLLOWING.
1. All red and yellow cards incurred while representing the club will be recorded by the Hon. Sec. He will note the name of the player and the date and circumstances in which the offence took place.
2. In the event of a player receiving a red card he will automatically receive an immediate sentence of suspension as laid down in the M.C.H.A handbook (the County's own disciplinary panel can still take separate action).
3. (a) In the event of a player receiving one or two yellow cards in a period of twelve months the Selection Committee may impose a suspension based upon the seriousness and nature of the incidents giving rise to the yellow cards being given. (b) A player receiving a third yellow card in the twelve month period will automatically be suspended for ONE MATCH. (c) A player receiving a fourth or subsequent yellow card within twelve months of each other will automatically be suspended as below: (i) 4 CARDS - 2 MATCHES (ii) 5 CARDS - 3 MATCHES (iii) 6 CARDS - 4 MATCHES etc. (d) A player has no right of appeal against an automatic suspension but will be invited to address the Committee before it exercises it's discretion under 3 (a) above.
4. In deciding on whether to impose a suspension after one or two yellow cards the Committee will consider the nature of the offence/s. whether the player is a vital member of that team or not and other relevant matters.
5. (a) An automatic period of suspension shall be served after the card is received. (b) A suspension shall operate in respect of the game(s) for which that player would normally have been selected. Suspensions will be served in respect of Saturday matches and on Sundays in the event of rearranged league games. (c) No account shall be taken of the fact that the suspension might cause a player to miss a league game or other important fixtures.
6. For the purposes of this procedure a twelve month period shall be deemed to commence from the 1st September in each year and to determine on 31st August in the following year.
